Tim was born in Mount Pleasant, and graduated from Connellsville Area Senior High School. Upon graduating from Liberty University in 1984 with a degree in mathematics, Tim entered the United States Naval Officers Candidate School where he was named a Distinguished Graduate. Upon receiving his orders to join the fleet, Tim served onboard the USS Pensacola (LSD-38) as an engineering, deck and gunnery officer.
After completing 4 1/2 years of active service, Tim returned home to attend the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, graduating with honors in 1992. Thereafter, he was engaged in the private practice of law, most recently with Stassburger, McKenna, Gutnick and Gefsky in Greensburg.
Tim was first elected to serve as State Representative in November 2008. During the 2009-2010 term, he serves upon the Judiciary, State Government, Intergovernmental Affairs and Game and Fisheries Committees. He has also been appointed to the House Republican Policy Committee Energy Task Force.
In his first term, Tim has introduced legislation to:
- address the issue of bloated legislative pensions; and,
- return the Pennsylvania General Assembly to its roots as a part-time citizens' body.
He has also sponsored legislation to:
- reduce the size of the legislature;
- protect our right to purchase private health care insurance free from federal interference; and,
- permit Pennsylvania's law enforcement officers to enforce our nation's laws against illegal immigration.
Tim resides in Delmont with his wife Ellie and their four children Sarah, Elisabeth, Abigail and Jack. He is a member of the Pioneer Presbyterian Church in America, AMVETS, Baltzer Meyer Historical Society, Greensburg VFW Post 33, Military Officers Association of America, Ruffed Grouse Society, United States Naval Institute, Westmoreland County Bar Association and the Westmoreland County Historical Society. He is also a Life Member of the National Rifle Association.
